Richard “Dick” Meredith Obituary

Richard “Dick” Meredith, aged 82, of Washington formerly Bruceville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, in Washington, Indiana with his devoted wife by his side. Born on April 23, 1941, to the late Rance and Doris Brassuer Meredith, Dick grew up knowing the vale of hard work, and the importance of family.

Throughout his remarkable life, Dick was known for his entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his craft. He owned and operated a successful tree trimming and logging business that served the community for many years. Dick's work ethic was unparalleled, and his reputation for quality service spoke volumes about his character. Not one to sit idle, Dick found pleasure in the pursuit of antiques, cherishing the history and stories they represented.

Dick's love for his country was evident in his service to the United States Army, an experience that fortified his life with discipline and pride.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Mahan Meredith; his children, Tracy Smith (Wade) of Chandler, Indiana, and stepson Timothy Mahan of Washington, Indiana. Dick delighted in being a grandfather to SuEllen, Addison, and Logan Meredith, and a great-grandfather to Kendall Meredith, Preston and Hailey Bilderback. Additionally, he leaves behind his brother, Bill Meredith (Brenda) of Vincennes, sister Pauline Jones of Haubstadt, and several adoring nieces and nephews. His presence as the family patriarch will be profoundly missed.

Dick was also preceded in death by, his son, Jesse Meredith, and brothers, Don and Eugene Meredith.

Dick Meredith will be remembered as a pillar of his community, a devoted husband, a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and a man of unwavering character. As seasons change and trees grow tall, his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved and the community he helped flourish.
